Read on to discover how this stainless steel bento box has transformed my takeout experience and learn why it might just be the perfect container for you too.

EVER ECO STACKABLE BENTO BOX 2 TIER + MINI CONTAINER 1200ML

One thing about me is that I do not enjoy cooking. As a single individual living on my own. I find cooking for one, really challenging. Also working in the hospitality industry I usually get a lot of takeaway meals from work as my staff meals or just because I can.

Before I started my sustainability journey I accumulated a lot of plastic containers and take-away pizza boxes. I saw how my bad habits were impacting our environment and it was during my time in Canada that I decided to stop ordering takeout and cook at home.

However, I just couldn’t find the joy in cooking and found it quite mentally draining. I started looking for sustainable containers I could use when ordering my takeout food.

That is when I came across Ever Eco. Ever Eco is a sustainable business creating reusable kitchen and travel accessories. They have a huge range of reusable coffee cups, tumblers, drink bottles, straws, food storage containers and much much more.

My all-time favourite and the container I use the most is the Stainless Steel Bento Lunch Box. It comes with a removable divider which is great for separating your hot and cold items. The lid has a silicone insert which makes it leakproof, for the most part. I haven’t had any issues with my container leaking in my bag.

The lunch box comes with two clips on either end for easy opening and closing. The container is 1.4l which is perfect for a main meal. The things I normally put in my lunch box are fruit (watermelon, rockmelon and honeydew) and salads ( these salads usually last me 2 meals as the container, I find is just that big) Asian takeaway, It is so nice knowing a lot of the local Asian restaurants in Perth will accept my container. I love Asian cuisine and it is the best feeling knowing I can still eat the foods that I love and stop single-use plastic containers.

Top Pick – Stainless Steel Bento Lunch Box 1400ml

  • Food grade 18/8 stainless steel
  • Measures 21 x 16 x 6cm and holds 1400ml
  • Plastic-free
  • dishwasher safe
  • freezer friendly (my opinion)

Being metal, hot food can heat the container and can be hot to the touch. It is not microwave safe as it is metal. However, I have found it is freezer friendly or I have frozen food in my container, not sure if it was designed for that but I haven’t had any issues with it.

If you do decide to buy one you will spend roughly $50 on this one container. I honestly think it’s worth it, I bought mine 3 years ago and it’s still going strong. It has kept its shape, the silicone insert in the lid is still intact, and the clips are still firm and easy to use.

I travel with my containers on airplanes and have had no issues during the security process. It is surprisingly lightweight and fits easily in my everyday handbag.

I recommend getting the mini sauce containers as they fit perfectly inside the lunch box and are for the most part leak proof. Read my review on the Ever Eco mini containers here.

Using Your Container For Takeaway

At first, it was pretty daunting asking to use my reusable containers, I would get a lot of stares from other customers and sometimes the staff would talk amongst themselves before accepting to take my container. Now I can’t see myself ever going back to a plastic container. All the local restaurants almost know me by name and are more than happy to accept my container.

Oh, you can use these containers if you prefer to meal prep at home.

Yes, I am learning to enjoy cooking at home but in the meantime, I am glad I can get great nutritious food and be plastic-free!!
