I am so sick of hearing the argument that if you use mobile phone, drive a car or participate in modern society in some way it invalidates you from wanting to make things better.

Living in a world driven by fossil fuels and mass production doesn't mean our voices for change are hypocritical. It means we're all part of a system that needs transformative change.

We all have to exist in the BS world made of where capitalism, colonisation, imperialism and the exploitation of people and the planet is making our life on this planet untenable. This doesn't mean we have to passively accept it. Criticising the very system we're part of isn't hypocrisy; it's an acknowledgment of the need for systemic change.

Choosing to live off-grid in a cabin, as romanticized as it sounds, isn't a feasible option for everyone. More importantly, it doesn't address the larger issue. We need collective action and systemic solutions, not just individual escapes. We can use the tools and platforms available to us, even if they are products of the system we critique, to advocate for renewable energy, sustainable practices, and a more equitable world.

Advocating for a sustainable future isn't about personal purity; it's about pushing for systemic changes that will benefit everyone.

As with all products, the sustainability story encompasses more than just the material it is made from.

How has the fabric been made?
Where & how were the raw materials grown?
Who makes the garments – are they safe & paid fairly?
Is the manufacturing process closed loop or are there chemicals being discarded?
Will the fabric biodegrade?
How long will the product last?

Bamboo can be used to create sustainable garments. However, products that are made unsustainably from viscose & rayon are still claimed to be “green”, “eco” & “sustainable” because corporations market & greenwash their products as an ethical choice.

🌏 REFUSE – The best way to stop waste is to not use it in the first place. Think of where you can stop using products when you don’t really need to.

🌏 REDUCE – Overconsumption is causing massive damage to the planet. Investing in 1 higher quality item that will last a long time is better than buying 5 cheap things that will break easily.

🌏 REUSE – How can you give something a second life? Use jars and containers again as storage or repeat an outfit over and over to get the most out of it.

🌏 REHOME – If you can no longer use something would it be useful to someone else? You could swap clothes with friends to refresh your wardrobe. Selling second-hand goods or donating quality products reduces the demand for new products.

🌏 REPAIR – Repairing clothing or other goods extend their life and stops the need for buying something new.

🌏 ROT – Compost food waste to turn it into soil that can be used to grow trees and veggies. Diverting food waste and making something useful rather than it releasing methane as it decomposes in landfill is a win for the planet.

Recycling should be our last option to use if these are not possible. Every resource we can keep out of landfill is a win and helps lower the demand for new products from virgin materials.

The call for a free Palestine and the defence of human rights is not anti-Semitism!

We are taking a stand against the injustices and human rights violations committed by the Israeli government. Criticism of these policies targets specific actions that have led to the oppression and displacement of Palestinian people, not an attack on Jewish individuals or their faith.

This struggle is about confronting colonialism, standing against the forced eviction of Palestinians from their homes, and challenging the systemic inequalities imposed by an oppressive regime. The disproportionate power dynamics and the label of 'terrorism' applied selectively reveal deep-seated racial prejudices. The right to self-defence cannot be monopolised by the oppressor while denying the oppressed their fundamental human rights.

The horror continues in Palestine. You may feel helpless to stop it, I know I do but we need to all keep doing everything in our power to help the people of Palestine.

Boycotting, calling politicians, attending rallies, buying from Palestinian businesses, sharing on social media, having conversations, non-violent direct action, and donating money.

We all have power and privilege we can use to demand an end to the genocide of Palestinians and an END TO THE OCCUPATION!
