My Honest Waterdrop Review

In this review, I’m sharing my honest thoughts on Waterdrop and whether it really is a worthwhile way to stay hydrated while reducing your reliance on single-use plastic bottles.

I’ll admit it, I’ve never been someone who naturally drinks enough water.

For years, I’d reach for cordial, coconut water or flavoured drinks because plain water just didn’t appeal to me. No matter how many times I was told to drink 2L a day, it always felt overwhelming. As I became conscious about living sustainably and reducing waste, buying bottled drinks no longer aligned with the lifestyle I wanted to live. I started looking for an alternative that would make drinking water more enjoyable without generating unnecessary plastic waste.

Unlike traditional soft drinks or cordials, Waterdrop’s Microdrinks are made with fruit and plant extracts and contain no added sugar. They also include added vitamins, depending on the flavour you choose.

One of the things that first caught my attention was the packaging. The cubes are incredibly compact and take up very little space, making them ideal for home, work, travel or vanlife. Instead of carrying around heavy bottles of flavoured drinks, you can keep several weeks’ worth of Microdrinks in a small box or your bag.

The added fruity flavour of Waterdrop is subtle, not too sweet and the perfect way to make water flavoursome. The energy drink is great to drink before a workout at the gym or night shift without all the sugar and chemicals of traditional energy drinks.

One of the reasons I was drawn to Waterdrop wasn’t just the flavour, it was the company’s focus on reducing waste compared with traditional bottled drinks.

That said, it’s important to know that Waterdrop isn’t completely plastic-free.

Each Microdrink cube is individually wrapped in a small amount of plastic to help protect the ingredients from moisture and keep the product fresh. While I’d love to see a completely plastic-free alternative in the future, I also understand the challenge of protecting preservative-free products without compromising their quality.

Instead of purchasing dozens of individual bottles, you’re carrying a small box of concentrated Microdrinks that can be used with your favourite reusable bottle.

That’s where Waterdrop makes the biggest difference. It has helped me drink more water while reducing my reliance on single-use bottled drinks. Although I’d still love to see completely plastic-free packaging one day, I think Waterdrop is a step in the right direction for anyone trying to reduce waste without giving up convenience.

Waterdrop in a cocktail?

I haven’t tried it yet but I have thought about making a fruity cocktail with these flavours, I can have the cocktails I love and instead of adding sugary mixers, I can add water and a flavoured cube which in the long run is a healthy alternative.

Final Thoughts: Is Waterdrop Worth It?

Overall, I’ve had a really positive experience with Waterdrop. Rather than claiming to be perfect, the company openly acknowledges that there is still room for improvement and continues working towards sustainable packaging solutions.

If you’re expecting something similar to cordial or soft drink, Waterdrop probably isn’t the right product for you. One of the biggest advantages for me is how travel-friendly the products are. Whether I’m heading away for the weekend, spending time in my van or going to the gym, I can simply pop a few Microdrinks into my bag instead of carrying bulky bottles or buying drinks while I’m out. They take up almost no space, are incredibly convenient and have genuinely helped me drink more water throughout the day.

Would I recommend Waterdrop? Yes. Is it perfect? No.
