In this post I will review Waterdrop and share my honest opinion on whether this product is a winner for increased hydration with less plastic.
I am a person who has always struggled with my water intake. For years I have never gravitated towards plain water. My go-to would always be cordial or some other flavoured beverage. The thought of having to drink 2L of water a day terrified me, it looked and sounded like a lot. Flavoured drinks were a lot more enjoyable and made drinking my daily intake a lot more manageable. When I decided to live a more sustainable and plastic-free lifestyle I was conscious of my environmental impact with plastic packaged flavoured drinks, so the amount of plastic waste and carbon emissions from manufacturing and transport are too high for a short-lived pleasure.
When I found the Waterdrop was a product that offered flavoured water with 98% less plastic than a bottled drink I knew I had to try it. Waterdrop Microdrink is a small, sugar-free cube that dissolves in water to add a delicious fruity flavour.
I found Waterdrop to be a great option for people who love flavoured drinks and hate plastic waste. I loved the convenience and the taste of Waterdrop and I found it much easier to get my 2 litres!

This pack comes with 6 different flavours with each flavour having 3 cubes. I purchased the set for $28 making each cube roughly $1.50 each. I also ordered the Microdrink Energy cubes they were $19 so roughly $1.58 each.
The flavours I got with my Taster Pack included: Blackcurrant & Elderberry, Pomegranate & Goji Berry, Mango & Catus Fruit, Lime & Green Coffee (un-caffeinated), Pineberry & Passion Fruit and Physalis and Peppermint.
I like all the flavours as they are subtle and not overpowering, just adding a nice touch of flavour to my water. I do find I drink more water and have added 1 x 600ml bottle of water with a flavour to my morning routine. The remainder of the day I will have normal unflavoured water and it seems to work for me.
The Microenergy Cubes I purchased are the Shiro – Cherry Blossom Mellow flavour. I have had 2 cubes so far before/during my Gym workouts. This flavour is a lot more prominent than the other flavours. I feel the energy boost and may be able to replace my morning coffee with this. However, at the moment I still have my morning coffee plus this cube before the gym.
I haven’t tried it yet but I have thought about making a fruity cocktail with these flavours, I can have the cocktails I love and instead of adding sugary mixers, I can add water and a flavoured cube which in the long run is a healthy alternative.
