Designed for Beginners

These colouring pages are perfect for beginners.

Month 2 introduces a new colouring skill: using light and dark versions of the same colour.

You’ll practise using gentle pencil pressure for lighter shades and firmer pressure for darker areas, helping you add simple depth and shadows without making colouring feel complicated. If changing pencil pressure feels tricky, you can simply use two pencils from the same colour family instead.

Each page includes:

• Bold, clean outlines
• Beginner-friendly garden scenes
• A simple colouring tip
• A gardening Did You Know? fact
• Opportunities to practise light and dark shading

Use coloured pencils, crayons, markers or your favourite digital colouring app. If you’re using markers, place a spare sheet of paper behind the page to help protect the surface underneath.

Why You’ll Love This Collection

These Seeds & Seedlings Colouring Pages are more than a colouring activity. They’re an opportunity to slow down, get creative and discover what happens before a garden really begins to grow.

You’ll discover ideas for:

• Saving seeds for another growing season
• Swapping and sharing seeds
• Understanding how seeds germinate
• Starting seedlings in reused household materials
• Caring for young plants
• Transplanting seedlings into the garden
• Reducing reliance on disposable plastic seedling pots and trays

The collection also explores simple ideas such as using egg cartons, cardboard tubes and other reusable or compostable materials to start seedlings at home.

At Simply Plastic Free, we believe sustainability is about progress, not perfection. You don’t need expensive equipment or a huge garden to start growing from seed. Start with what you have, experiment and enjoy watching something tiny grow into something wonderful.

Part of the Simply Plastic Free Garden Series

Seeds & Seedlings is Month 2 of the Simply Plastic Free Garden Series — a 12-month beginner colouring journey.

Each month explores a different part of sustainable gardening while gently introducing a new colouring skill.

Month 2 builds on Month 1 by adding a little more detail to the illustrations and introducing light-and-dark shading.

You can enjoy each month on its own or work through the complete series and watch your colouring skills and gardening knowledge grow together.

Small seeds, small steps — both grow into something wonderful.
